Since reform and opening up,with the rapid development of economy and urbanization, medium-small towns pursuit economic development Excessively and ignore the history and culture during urban construction and destruct the natural environment, the core idea of cultural values which continued with the history of the town of the gradual have lost. Medium- small towns pursuit GDP growth and scale expansion excessively, forgetting of the humanistic values of towns, and the phenomenon of convergence of towns is increasingly clear. Urban division of labor is not clear and personality is not prominent,and it has affected the competitiveness of towns to play.The personalized development of towns helps to solve the loss of town character, lack of competitiveness and other issues in the rapid urbanization process and it should be the important trend of China's urbanal development in the 21st century. In this context, study of personalized positioning of towns is very important,not only providing personalized guidance system theory for cities and towns searching and establishment of their own personality in the process of the rapid development,but also enriching and developping the theory of the content of urban planning for cities and providing the advanced ideas. Reserch of personalized positioning of towns is to encourage the towns which already have a good economic development basic to consider abandoning "GDP first" error development ideas,and began to re-pursuit of a culture of cohesion.Not only focused on economic development, but also pay attention to social development in harmony and shaping the human values of urban cohesion.This paper researches of the methods of personalized positioning of towns, research of the methods of personalized positioning of towns is a core element of the theoretical system. The main research framework is based on theoretical exploration target, Including the awareness of existing urban character, the analysis of development process, exploring the formation mechanism of personality, Then on this basis build up the theoretical methods system of personalized positioning of towns. And select Jieshi town inWeihai for empirical analysis to verify the scientific and feasibility of the system. All this focus on exploring the formation mechanism of personality and the construction of the theoretical model system of personalized positioning of towns.The topic this paper study is a new field and there are much innovation in it.first of all, it discusses the definition and significance of individuality of towns and personalized towns , then put forward a concept of " personalized positioning of towns ". By exploring the formation mechanism of personality, divided the influencing factors into the Reality impact factors and potential impact factors, then get the ideas of the methods of personalized positioning of towns. Getting the existing basic personality of the towns by analyzing the reality impact factors and potential impact factors and analize the potential impact factors ,then eventually determine the personalized positioning of towns. Following the theoretical exploration, select Jieshi town of Weihai pillar for empirical research to verify the scientific and feasibility of the methods systems. The text is divided into five parts: The first part is preface. First of all try to give the definition of personalized positioning of towns, and then introduce the background, content, significance, research at home and abroad of the research of personalized positioning of towns. The second part is the theoretical basis. This part introduces theory of characteristics of cities, theory of urban management, theory of positioning of towns and theory of city competitiveness.And focus on the theory of positioning of towns and then explain the link between the basic theory and the theory of methods of personalized positioning of towns.Part III is research of the methods of personalized positioning of towns.This part is the main part of this paper. In this section, the principle of personalized positioning of towns is given. Getting formation mechanism of personality by analyzing the influencing factors and then get the theoretical model of personalized positioning of towns. And study the method of determining existing basic personality of the towns as well as the method of analysis of potential impact factors.Part IV is divided into empirical analysis.It takes Weihai of Shandong province for example,and use of previously derived methodology to do personalized positioning of towns for Jieshi town and position it as a "Leisure Town, Xanadu".The fifth part is the conclusion. It is the summary of the research results of the full text and required the further study of the support-industry and the development model after personalized positioning of towns.
