In order to clarify the differences and interrelationships among multiple types of proactive behavior,the author conducted this research from an integration perspective.Especially,9 types of proactive behaviors were selected from three different research areas:Social progress,work construct development and change processes.The research is established of 3 stages;first the measure questionnaires were translated and amended,then the pretests were used to assure their validity and reliability.At last,450 employees of 10 State-owned enterprises were engaged in Formal investigation.Data was processed to access the first-order and higher-order construct of proactive behaviors by using statistical methods such as EFA and CFA.A further research on the antecedents of proactive behavior was conducted also,and at last,the demographics were tested. The results are as follows:1.There are differences and interrelationships among the 9 types of proactive behavior.2.The 9 types of proactive behaviors were interrelated to each other,and according to the intended impact of behaviors,a higher-order construct was established:the proactive strategic behaviors intend to impacts on the broader organization's strategy and its fit with the external environment;the proactive work behaviors intend to impact on the internal organizational environment;the proactive person-environment fit behaviors intends to impact on the compatibility between one's own attributes and the organizational environment.3.The four dimensions of transformational leadership positively predict the work and strategic dimensions of proactive behaviors;affective commitment partly mediates these relationships;4.Affective commitment positively predicts the three higher-order of proactive behaviors;5.Demographic variables,such as gender,position,education and work experiences have different impacts on proactive behaviors. |
