The Analysis Of The Northwest Industrial Clusters Predicament

Regional economic development is closely bound up with local industrial clusters. Facts of regional economic development both home and abroad have proved that regional competitive advantages come from industry's advantages that gain from process of industrial clustering. Since China Reform and Opening-up, many industrial clusters formed in China eastern coastal areas, such as Guangdong province and Zhejiang province. Industrial clusters became a primary means of accelerating local economic development, and the industrial clusters' effects promoted regional economic growth. Northwest territories of China is on the contrary. Many northwestern enterprises groups in which state-owned enterprises play a significant role gradually declined or diminished during economic structure restructuring period, in the meantime, local private enterprises and foreign-owned enterprises lost the opportunity to become main body of regional economic development. Northwest economic underdevelopment was attributable to a lack of local industrial clusters' guide and promote.Though China implement Western Development Strategy, why northwest region didn't form local industrial clusters just like eastern coastal area? Could northwest region learn eastern coastal area experience and develop regional industrial clusters to promote a leapfrog local economic development? These questions may serve as a point of departure of our study in this dissertation.To solve those problems mentioned above, the dissertation begin with general industrial clusters' forming mechanism and practice, and analysis China typical industrial clusters forming mechanism; compared with northwestern industrial clusters' condition, and find the defects; accept these analysis as a basis, we try to find the north western area's relative advantages, and provide paths for northwest area to get out of industrial clusters scrape.
