Analysis And Application Of XBRL Technology

With the development of computer technology,more enterprises are starting to disclose financial information on their website.However,some of the data formats of these disclosures are unstructured,resulting in critical information not able to be effectively identified by computers.Meanwhile,most enterprises have also applied various types of software management systems,including financial management systems,of which,these systems often create data in different format,unable to be realized using the free flow of internal information.XBRL(Extensible Business Reporting Language) can be relatively useful to resolve these problems.XBRL is the application of XML(Extensible Markup Language) in the business field.FASB first began to study XBRL and a number of other countries already have lots of experiences on how to apply XBRL.Presently,the application of XBRL focuses on the development of XBRL taxonomies and specific applications.This dissertation studies on how to effectively operate the application of XBRL. First of all,by analyzing the foundation and framework of XBRL,divides XBRL technology into several different areas.Secondly,on the basis of analyzing the international application of XBRL,the characteristics of XBRL applications are summarized.The author found that the general process of XBRL is to use XBRL in some special sections at start,and then to applied XBRL to the financial reports of listed companies.In the process,the Government regulatory authorities would be the main participants and driving force.Thirdly,the author analyzed the current status of XBRL application in China.XBRL applications currently focus on the financial reports submitted by listed companies,and have also developed five taxonomy systems.The application of XBRL in China,as compared to other countries,has a number of deficiencies:There is no unified taxonomy of listed companies;Software companies are not consistent in the development of XBRL.Finally,to overcome the shortcomings of the application of XBRL in China,the author suggests that to establish a unified XBRL taxonomy,to promote XBRL knowledge based on the characteristics of XBRL application,and the implication of XBRL application on state-owned enterprises should be established as a start.The main contribution and innovation of this paper are:Firstly,this paper introduced the international application of XBRL,which conducted a comprehensive description and analysis of the XBRL system.Secondly,a comparative analysis of the existing taxonomies is discussed.Thirdly,the establishment of the XBRL application framework in China is pointed out,with the implementation of it towards China's state-owned enterprises,while devising the taxonomy and application of processes at the same time.
