Under the backgrounds of the economic globalization and integration of regional economies, some transnational logistics enterprises, for instance UPS, DHL, FedEx, Maersk, Nippon Express and etc., are competing for the world logistics market shares. The logistics enterprises of our country deeply realize the importance of"Go-Out policy"; and the ODIs advance the important strengths with which logistics enterprises "walk out". The correct location choice is essential to improve the space efficiency of logistics industry's ODIs and occupy the favorable positions of the value chain. Looking for the location choice modes of ODIs is one of the questions which the logistics enterprises of our country must consider at present; therefore the location choice of logistic enterprises'ODIs is meaningful. This thesis combines the theoretical foundation and positive research and draws lessons from the research achievements of the developed countries and the studies of logistic enterprise's foreign direct investments in China. This thesis aims at putting forward the value chain strategic mode choices of the Chinese logistics enterprises according to their advantage of competition. The first part of the article explains the meaning of the ODI mode choice in which logistics enterprises choose and makes a brief instruction on the purpose of study, research approaches, research contents, thesis structure of this thesis. The second part of the thesis reviews the thoughts of the location choice in the ODI theories, foreign direct investment agglomeration theories, and value chain theories. This part has especially introduced some research from some Chinese scholars. The third part analyzes the current situations and distribution characteristics of the logistics enterprise ODI in China, and analyzes the domestic and foreign environment that the Chinese logistics enterprises face. The fourth part reviews the experience of the ODI location choice mode of logistic enterprises in the developed countries. I hope to get some beneficial enlightenment on the location choice of ODIs for the Chinese logistic enterprises. The fifth part of this thesis is the most important part. This part adopts the research methods of foreign direct investment theory on location choice and puts forward the modes of location choice of ODIs of Chinese logistic enterprise from the country and enterprise angles separately, including the market-seeking investment mode and strategic-asset-seeking investment mode. This part proposes an effective mode of a Chinese logistic enterprise's ODI in terms of value chain, i.e., Cluster mode ODI. Then this part chooses the case analysis of Chinese enterprises'location choices on ODIs. Through analyzing on ODIs of Cosco Group and Lynd's international logistics group, this part offers examples for the Chinese medium and small logistic enterprises. The sixth part of the thesis is a summary of the full text. The conclusion of the thesis is: Considering the development trend of the world and characteristics of logistics enterprise of China, Chinese logistic enterprises should implement the pluralistic, multi-leveled, and dynamic location choice modes. Especially the large number of medium and small-scale logistics enterprises should try to carry on the ODIs by the Cluster Mode.
