Sustainable development refers to not only satisfy the needs of contemporary people, but also don't pose a hazard to our future generations while meeting their own needs. Study on sustainable development relates to economy, society, population, culture, science and technology, environment, resources and other fields, and sees economic development as the prerequisite and basis, industrial sustainable development refers to achieve coordinated development among industrial economy and society, population, environment, resources.Maanshan City, which is one of the most important industrial cities in Anhui Province, industry is the main part of economy, industrial output accounts for the main component in the industrial economy. Because of economic restructuring and other reasons, there are many questions in industrial structure, co-ordination of non-steel industry have not been considered and has affected the overall economic development of Maanshan City.This paper first discussed the history, concept and basic content of sustainable development, then according to the industrial development in Maanshan City overview and status of non-steel industry, we need to optimize the industrial structure, vigorously develop the non-steel industries. With rapid economic growth, the stress on resource consumption and environmental protection becomes increasing, therefore, in order to ensure its society as a whole range of economic sustained growth, the development of recycling economy, the achievement of environment-friendly,the reducing of resource consumption and taking the path of sustainable development become the inevitable choices which will accelerate the all-round development of economy in Maanshan City.
