Domestic researches on the relationship between ownership structure and performance mainly focus on listed companies, but few on listed Banks. And ROE or other profitability indicators are mostly used to measure companies' performance. However,in addition to profitability, liquidity, safety and growth indicators should also be considered when measuring commercial bank management performance. Therefore, based on previous study, this paper uses factor analysis method to measure commercial bank management performance. We choose four indicators from ten,and then use them to construct a comprehensive performance bank index P with their contribution as weight. After that,we collect data from 2002 to 2007 of 5 listed banks to make regression with ROE and the comprehensive performance bank index P as dependent variable respectively and ownership structure as independent variable. The empirical analysis results show that the relation between the proportion of state-owned shares and banks operating performance is not significant, the relationship between the proportion of corporation stocks and banks operating performance is significantly positive, the relationship between the proportion of circulation shares and banks operating performance is not significant, the relationship between share percent of top 5 shareholders and banks operating performance is not significant.Last, based on empirical analysis results, this paper analyzes reasons for that and makes policy recommendations to improve Chinese listed Banks ownership structure according to facts.
