Research On American Scenic Byway Designation

Scenic byway is the combination road with tourism and transportation function, as it has multiple values of traffic, landscape, recreation, history, culture, nature. America is the original place of scenic byway, as well as the main research and practice country. National Scenic Byway Program is the developing program in America, which protect and improve the development of American byways. This paper surveys the designation system about American scenic byways from the grand and microcosmic views, doing research on the structure, criteria, progress and method. Base on the research, this paper also gives the advices of Chinese scenic byway criteria, and demonstrate on the real scenic byway.
