With the rapid development of China's automobile industry, the yield and the gross of automobiles rise rapidly and the number of the end-of-life vehicle growing at the same time. A range of issues such as shortage of resources, environmental pollution by garbage left over from waste automobiles will be brought about inevitably, which have seriously hindered the sustainable development of automobile industry. Therefore, how to carry out an effective end-of-life vehicle recycling and to further improve the utilization rate as much as possible has become an important issue for sustainable development of automobile industry.Automobile reverse logistics is an important measure which can regain the value of the end-of-life vehicle and their spare parts, economize resources, protect the environment, as well as implement the sustainable development.Network support is the foundation and core of any reverse logistics, the performance of reverse logistics management depend on the design of reverse logistics network is reasonable or not. The research of the reverse logistics network design is still at its initial stage. The end-of-life vehicle is widely concerned by state and society. This thesis mainly concerns on the location problem of automobile reverse logistics network within closed-loop supply chains.First, the concept, causes, classification and characteristic of reverse logistics are summarized. Expatiated on the concept and characteristics of closed-loop supply chains, and introduced the integration of the forward and reverse supply chain. Reverse logistics of the closed-loop supply chain is analyzed.Second, aimed at the function and significance, the solutions of implementing the automobile reverse logistics are put forward, and the thesis research on the automobile reverse logistics network.Third, a model for automobile remanufacturing reverse logistics network is developed based on mixed integer liner programming approach. According to the model, the numbers, location and capacities of various facilities and the allocation of corresponding goods flows in the network are ascertained.Finally, the location model of automobile reverse logistics network is solved by the LINGO software. Taken example for end-of-life vehicle of Shaanxi Province, the best location is ascertained through the process of the preparation and running.The validity and feasibility of the model is demonstrated by a numerical example.
