Study On The Influencing Factors And Countermeasures For The Development Of Chemical Industrial Cluster In Chongqing

Industrial cluster competition has been one of the main contents of the current international economy competition. Industrial cluster has formalized the basic space in many regional economies, and it is also the place where the regional competition lies in. Evidences suggest that competitive cluster will contribute a lot to the development of the regional economies. And chemical industry is one of the basic industries of national economy, which is not only very important for many fields of national economy and people's lives, but also is the significant supplier for main basic industries and raw materials of national economy. Thus, the research on the factors that influence industrial clusters will have practical meanings.In this paper, some relevant theories about industrial cluster have been introduced first. Then the paper analyzes some competitive advantages of industrial cluster and general influencing factors for its development. Further, the characteristics and current development status of chemical industrial cluster have been discussed in the following aspects: basic features, developing advantages and its existing status both in the world and in China. Then, the detailed features of chemical industrial cluster in Chongqing have been studied including its existing status, main problems, restricted factors and the advantages for its development. Because there are many factors which will influence the development of industrial cluster, and special industries have their own features and different industries have different influencing factors. Therefore on the basis of above studied results, according to the practical conditions and the short term of chemical industry in Chongqing, considering the research progresses of chemical industrial cluster by oversea and domestic researchers, twenty-one influencing factors for the development of chemical industrial cluster in Chongqing have been put forward. And these factors are divided into four groups, cluster environment, cluster economics, cluster innovation and cluster service system. Then these twenty-one influencing factors have been evaluated by the method of analytic hierarchy process. The evaluation results show the top eight key influencing factors for the development of chemical industrial cluster in Chongqing are integrity of cluster product chain, periphery market, basic infrastructures, scale economics, investment environment, specialized labor market, the supply of basic raw materials and the ability of chemical industrial logistics.In the end, this paper presents some useful advice for the development of chemical industry in Chongqing according to the evaluation results for twenty-one influencing factors by the analytic hierarchy process. These research results not only have some significance for explaining the self-advantage and disadvantage of chemical industry in Chongqing, but also have some significance for local government making policy to guarantee the continual, rapid and healthy development of the chemical industrial clusters in Chongqing.
