Study On Sustainable Development Of Regional Livestock And Poultry Breeding Industry

With the development of society and the improvement of people's living standard, livestock and poultry raising industries mushrooms in recent years. However, the pollution from livestock and poultry has done great harm to the ecological environment. The conflict between the industry development and environmental protection becomes increasingly obvious. Therefore, it is necessary to solve this problem and realize the sustainable development of livestock and poultry raising industries.According to relevant theory of sustainable development and the characteristics of livestock and poultry raising industries, the concept of regional sustainable development of livestock and poultry raising industry is put forward: it is a development which can meet the requirement of society and environmental protection.Then, based on system theory, sustainable development of livestock and poultry raising industry system is analyzed. It consists of two subsystems: social requirement subsystem and environmental requirement subsystem. Through cause-effect analysis, influence factors are analyzed in detail. According to the principle of indicator system design, 16 indicators in this system are determined. The objective of sustainable development of livestock and poultry raising industry system is to realize harmonious development between social requirement subsystem and environmental requirement subsystem. And then, the assessment model about sustainable development of livestock and poultry raising industry is proposed.A case study in Chongqing is introduced in the last chapter of this paper. The result of the assessment shows that the present development about livestock and poultry raising industries in Chongqing is unsustainable. The development level of environment subsystem falls behind that of social economical subsystem. And then, the existing problems are analyzed. Meanwhile, by the method of SWOT analysis, the strengths, weakness, opportunities as well as threats of livestock and poultry raising industries in Chongqing is respectively analyzed. It is proposed to seize the opportunities to overcome weakness, and develop strengths to reduce threats for livestock and poultry raising industries in chongqing. For the industry sustainable development, it is suggested that developing CDM projects, implementing policies to promote utilization efficiency of the excrement resource, combing with the advantage of local geographic condition to rationally plan the distribution of the livestock and poultry raising farms, learning from the experience of the demonstration projects to improve the industrial management is essential for Chongqing. Meanwhile, information service platform should be well established by the aid of advanced scientific research force to trengthen the epidemic disease prevention and control. Besides, environment-friendly feed production is further encouraged and environmental management approval system should continue to be strictly carried out. As long as such measures well implemented, sustainable development about livestock and poultry raising industries in Chongqing can be realized.
