Since the reform and opening of china and the establishment of market economy system, along with the quick development of economy and society, development power and the city internal spatial structure in the urban become more and more multiplied than ever before. Therefore, in recent years, the researches in spatial structure of the city internal elements are beginning to attract wide attention from academics.Domestic researches in spatial structure of the city internal elements focused on the resident population, economic output, and industrial structure and so on, but there are little on the city employment spatial structure. With the growing data-rich, many Chinese scholars have begun to concern within the spatial dispersion and concentration of China's urban employment. In this paper, through the use of the spatial processing data from the first census of basic units(1996) and the first national economic census(2004), a detailed description of the characteristics of the spatial distribution of employment in Beijing are done, as well as the evolution of the characteristics between the two time. First, by analyzing the 2004 economic census data, the article descripts Beijing employment spatial distribution in the scale of district and country and the characteristics of concentration and density. Next, through a combination of way of GIS contour analysis, the article identifies and extracts 24 job centers in Beijing, which are divided into six categories by employment (industry) type. Third, through the comparative analysis of the data of 1996 and 2004, the change pattern of the spatial distribution of employment in Beijing is analyzed. Finally, the paper gives several main conclusions: the polycentric pattern of Beijing employment spatial structure become clear; employment's spatial concentration was significant; the phenomenon of spatial variation of employment structure highlights. Based on these conclusions, the paper also puts forward some opinions for the future optimization and construction of the employment spatial structure of Beijing.
