Study On Effects Of Forest Home To Rural Tourism

Due to the strong needs of people's return to nature, the tourism to the country has begun to be a hot issue in the field of tourism, which attracts many people's attention. Many scholars have researched the rural tourism from different aspects. In the end of 2006, Forestry Department of Fujian Province proposed the development of Forest Home for health and leisure, according to the abundant forest resources in Fujian Province and reference of successful experience of Farmhouse Enjoyment in other provinces. As a new tourism for health and leisure, Forest Home shows the regional feature of Fujian Province, and it will become a more and more important issue, which is worth studying and discussing, under the fierce competition in the field of tourism.Based on collection of a great amount of literature and information, questionnaires and first-hand investigation added by qualitative and quantitative analysis and other methods, this paper built up the Assessment Index System of Sustainable Development for rural tourism, using Analytical Hierarchy Process, Data Standardization and other analytical methods. The system can be divided into three levels: the first one is called target layer, which shows the sustainable management level; the second one is called element layer, which includes the elements of tourism resources and environment, opening-up construction, economy and society; the third one is called index layer, which includes 24 indexes. Meanwhile, this paper studies the case of Forest Home of Qishan in Fuzhou, using the Assessment Index System to analyze, compare and judge the Sustainable Development for rural tourism in previous two years before completion of Forest Home construction and in late two years after its completion, and then gets an conclusion.The analysis shows that Forest Home has significant differences on Sustainable Development for rural tourism, the sustainable development index of local tourism increases by 1.5433 after its construction. From the point of element layer, there are positive impacts on factors such as tourism resources, environment, opening-up construction, economy and society. Among these, the effect on the economy is the most, and then the society, the opening-up construction, and finally tourism resources and environment. Analyzing from the significant differences between the previous 24 indexes and the later 24 indexes , the impacts on the 17 indexes about the accomplishment degree of service security system, the management order, the coordination of Forest Home and the periphery landscape, the goverment policy, and the tourist satisfaction degree, the attitude of local residents, the investment in tourism, the tourism revenue, and the abilities to attract foreign capitals ect. are significant; the impacts on the other 7 indexes such as the value of village tourism, the quality of ecological environment, the ratio of waste treatment, location, popularity, the number of outside visitors, the proportion of regional employees are not obvious. The results show that:Firstly, Forest Home relies on forest. Local people provide food, housing, entertainment and the purchase of eco-friendly products spontaneously. It promotes reasonable development and utilization of rural resources , the opening-up level, the economic and social development, and the sustainable development of rural tourism.Secondly, Forest Home both conserves and utilizes forest resources. Ecological, social and economic benefits co-exist for sustainable forestry development. Construction of Forest Home which not only enriches the forest tourism products, while increasing the ways for leisure and fitness, but also promotes the exchanges between urban and rural areas, while promoting a new socialist countryside-construction and increasing the income of farmers.Thirdly, Forest Home effectively resolves the conflict between protection and utilization of forest resource. It digs the superiority of the abundant forest resource in Fujian and satisfied the needs of people's return to nature.Forthly, Forest Home promotes the rural tourism development in Fujian and supplies a new platform for forest tourism development in Fujian.This paper makes some exploration and innovation in the study of the effects on rural tourism brought by Forest Home. It establishes a new assessment index system to evaluate the effects of Forest Home. The new assessment index system will help to perfect Forest Home and can also help to make a deeper research on the effects of Forest Home.
