Joint-stock system transformation of state-owned commercial banks in China is a forceful measure to enhance the overall financial competitiveness of China and to cope with the all-round opening-up of the financial industry. Since 2003, Bank of China, China Construction Bank. Industrial and Commercial Bank of China have launched in succession joint-stock system reforms and established joint-stock corporations and successively get listed at home and abroad. Joint-stock system reforms and listings have changed property rights and governance structures. which will have a far-reaching impact on the efficiencies of state-owned commercial banks. Based on the DEA model, the article conducted empirical analysis on three state-owned commercial banks that have undergone system reforms and concluded that the efficiencies of state-owned commercial banks had been obviously improved during and after system reforms.The article is divided into five chapters. Chapter I is the introduction, which focuses the foundation of topic selection, significance of the study and former relevant studies, preparing for in-depth studies in later paragraphs. Chapter II generally discusses the efficiencies of state-owned commercial banks and principally analyzes the concept of the efficiency of commercial banks, study methods, the establishment of input and output indicators for efficiency analysis and factors that affect the efficiencies of commercial banks. Based on the DEA model, Chapter III carries out empirical analysis on the efficiency changes of three state-owned commercial banks before and after the reforms and concludes that the efficiencies of state-owned commercial banks have been obviously improved during and after the reforms. Chapter IV analyzes the factors that influence the efficiencies of commercial banks in China and discusses the reasons for the efficiency improvement of state-owned commercial banks after the reforms both in the internal and external aspects. Chapter V puts forward suggestions on policies to further reform and improve the efficiencies of state-owned commercial banks.
