Festivals are the concentrated display of the essence of culture and life of a nation, which are the root causes of culture roots, culture identity and history continuity. Chinese traditional festivals in spring include the Beginning, New Year, the Lantern Festival, February Festival, the Ching Ming Festival and other major festivals. They have became important and popular owing to their time leap, rich content and jubilant atmosphere,Hakka people, as a branch of the Han nationality, are similar with the Han nationality in terms of formation, development, and the rise and fall of folk-customs. As the saying goes: "there is no similar winds within one hundred square miles, and there is no similar customs within one thousand square miles. " Even if Hakka people belong to China as the Han nationality does, their festival folk-customs have their own unique track in the process of their development and evolution. Those unique characteristics are the results of the mountains and rivers, historical and cultural background and the difference of living era and environment. Therefore, this paper intends to use the basic principles of History Geography with interdisciplinary research as a tool and to adopt the combination research methods of the typical regional research and case study, to study the difference in nature, humanity environment, and the social development level as well as the evolution of these differences in Meizhou during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The study can be used as concrete examples for the development theory of festival folk-customs and festival tourism in Chinese Hakka area.
