The Income Disparity Between Urban And Rural Residents Since The Reform And Open To The Outside World

Since the reform and open to the outside world,income of urban and rural residents in China has increased greatly and the living condition has been improved. However,the disparity of people's income has also been widened in terms of Gini Coefficient which demonstrates the level of income disparity. China's Gini Coefficent was 0.25 before the reform and open to the outside world,while it was recorded 0.463 in 2005,surpassing the warning line (0.4) by 85%. And the disparity of income between urban and rural residents is the most obvious. According to the survey,the effect of the income disparity between urban and rural residents upon the entire social income disparity is over 50%. It is not only a challenge to the harmonizing development between urban cities and rural areas and the construction of a better-off society,but also one of the most outstanding problems which was pointed in the Speech by Hu Jintao to the 17th National Congress on October 15, 2007 attracting people's close attention.In this research,the disparity of income between urban and rural residents of Jining city of Shandong Province is given a positive analysis.First,the author analyzes the basic conditions of income disparity between urban and rural residents since the reform and open to the outside world in Jining City. The author analyzes income ratio,absolute disparity,the disparity of increasing rate,interior disparity,horizontal comparison of income disparity and so on in order to give a comprehensive evaluation of the income disparity between urban and rural residents.Second,in the research,the thesis objectively analyzes the underling reasons and influencing factors of income disparity between urban and rural residents since the reform and open to the outside world in Jining city. In this section the author stresses on the reasons of the development of economic,structural reform,policies,and the market reason and so on. Then the author analyzes the positive and negative influence to the economic and society because of the income disparity between urban and rural residents,especially analyzing the negative influence. Nowadays,the negative influence is dominant.Third,with above reasons and reference to experience of diminishing the income disparity between urban and rural residents in some foreign countries and Taiwan Province,the author aims at how to narrow down the income disparity between urban and rural residents of Jining city. In this section the author stresses on how to make the development of economic,structural reform and policies of Jining city narrow down the income disparity between urban and rural residents. So as to give valuable methods to narrow down the income disparity between urban and rural residents with the increase of their income level.
