The Comparative Study On Urumqi's Urban Competitiveness

The new economy and economic globalization make the competition between economic entity intense and unprecedented wide, replying to the opportunities, challenges and competition brought by new economy and globalization, Upgrading competitive power become the consensus of all economic policy makers. Since the U.S. government first made large-scale study on the competitiveness in the 1980s, the competitiveness of the countries has always been the common concern of politicians, entrepreneurs and scholars. The study on global competitiveness is Deepening in the content, at the same time the study is expanding rapidly in scope. Globalization and the localization make the status of local upgrading continuously, regional competition becoming fierce increasingly. More and more signs show that: The 21st century is the century of cities. The policy makers will be concerned about city and the city's competitiveness increasingly. Study on competitiveness of city will be popular in a global scale.This paper uses some ideas and methods summed up by the previous scholars. Using the method of qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, standardized analysis and comparative analysis, this paper compares Urumqi with other cities in China in order to find the reasons why the urban competitiveness of Urumqi is lower, and to make appropriate recommendations designed to improve the urban competitiveness of Urumqi.
