Linfen Urban Competitiveness Evaluation Research

The 21^st century are the economical globalization swift and violent development new times, also are urban development and the competition new century. The city strengthens attention the focal point. Facing the common opportunity and the challenge , various cities government is urgent needs to understand its city the development present situation, correctly appraises its superiority, sufficiency and the development potential, constructs the urban development pattern, strives for the fastest development, promotes the city competitive ability.This paper attempts to combine theoretical analysis and empirical research and take appraisal of the urban competitiveness as a research core, meanwhile, and to research on strategies of upgrading Linfen city's competitiveness. On basis of the former research frame, this paper summarizes other evaluation indicator systems, improves evaluation indicator system of urban competitiveness and uses the new evaluation indicator system to appraise competitiveness and construct the comprehensive evaluation function. This paper is structured as follows:The first chapter is introduction. This part discusses the background and the significance of the study of the problem.The second chapter is the description of the definition and features of the urban competitiveness, According to the theoretical basis for the vrban competitiveness, this part summarizes each kind of definition and gives the definition to the urban and evaluation model and then is a summary of the theoretical basis for urban competition, It includes of absolute and comparative advantages theory, competitive advantage theory, regional economic theory, comparative economic theory, technical disparity theory, innovation theory, new growth theory and new system economics theory.The third chapter describes the establishment of the evaluation indicator system of urban competitiveness and the construction of comprehensive evaluation function.According to systematic principle, scientific principle, practical principle and comparable principle, this part summarizes advantages and disadvantages of various indicator systems to construct a new evaluation indicator system and new evaluation model of urban competitiveness. Finally, this part constructs the comprehensive evaluation function based on principal component analysis.The fourth chapter describes the computation process as well as to the real diagnosis result and carries on the analysis of present situation of Linfen city's urban competitiveness, Firstly, through SPSS software, this part uses the method of principal component analysis to appraise the urban competitiveness of four cities in china And then this part calculates scores of cities in china and ranks according to scores. Finally, we discuss the present situation of Linfen city urban competitiveness and try to find advantages and disadvantages of Linfen city compared with other cities. The last chapter produces strategies which can upgrade urban competitiveness of the Linfen city according to the results of real diagnosis analysis.
