Methodology Research On Technology Opportunities Analysis Based On Patent Documents

In the background of Future-based Technology Analysis, this paper addressed conceptual definition and theoretical discussion with regard to Technology Opportunities Analysis from a new perspective, and focused on the study of patent document based analysis methods, which are used in Technology Opportunities Analysis process.The researching focus of this paper is designing a methodology framework for Patent Technology Opportunities Analysis. First, in light of the 9-Windows model of creative thinking, the author proposed a new conceptual model for guiding Technology Opportunities Analysis. There were three levels vertically as technology system, sub-system and super-system, and three aspects horizontally as development trends, development potentialities and development directions. We can perform a systematic research from various angles into the development characteristics of technology.Then, on the basis of the conceptual model, according to the analytical sequence, three types of methods were designed to map into the three levels in a ladder form, which constituted the methodology model. Meanwhile, patent analysis methods suitable for Technology Opportunities Analysis were filtered, excavated and summarized comprehensively. Through this a dynamic, level-divided and extendable methodology framework was constructed in combination with the methodology model.At last, an experiment was performed to the object of wide viewing angle technology in TFT-LCD under the guidance of methodology framework, and several methods in those three levels & three aspects were integrated. With those methods, the development status and potential opportunities of wide viewing angle technology was demonstrated relatively comprehensively and profoundly. The results validated the rationality and feasibility of Technology Opportunities Analysis based on patent documents.In the experiment, TRIZ technological maturity forecasting and patent morphology analysis were researched in depth. Corrected cited counts index and term frequency analysis method were brought in to speed the maturity forecasting process. Analysis schemes for future possible morphology selection were designed in two aspects of feasibility and significance.
