Chinese Auto Style Tendency Research Based On Eastern Aesthetic View

Since 1950s, the born of first FAW heavy truck, the Chinese automobile industry has passed more than fifty years. Despite of a certain scale, the Chinese automobile hasn't formed its own styling until now, so the discussion on localization design and the independent development has never been stopped. And the independent design is always the hottest topic that everyone advocated, and also will be the only choice of Chinese automobile design.When discuss the Chinese feature in the localization design, many people are used to equal Chinese styling to some simple Chinese styling features, by changing surface curve and modulating proportion to suppose Chinese traditional aesthetic view. As a result, the auto style always fails to meet the real eastern aesthetic requirements. In view of this phenomenon, the domestic design field regards that this problem comes from late starting, low level, and copying design, but never considers from the essence of Chinese Culture and Chinese aesthetics.On the basis of aesthetic function, taking automobile developing history as an example, this thesis analyzes the relationship among the aesthetic requirements, regions, and ages. Meanwhile, it gives out the corresponding principles between modern styling rules and traditional eastern aesthetic features. Moreover, it has been the first time for explaining the Chinese auto design confusion stemming from the Chinese traditional philosophy, the Chinese aesthetics, and the Chinese literature, which has taken strong illegibility and are the fundamental cause of no settled design style.Aiming at the fuzzy problem of eastern aesthetics, the thesis puts forward the qualitative analysis model based on discrete random variable, especially focusing on the description of the model building, key factor definition and the application of Kansei Engineering theory, and taking the front side of Cadillac as an example, from the theory proving the method. Further more, through Likert chart and Origin software, the model calculates the style feature line. The thesis proves that this model has a significant meaning for the research on eastern aesthetic features.Combined with concept cars design, the thesis goes further on the special points brought by conceptual design for abstracting Chinese aesthetic theory and developing Chinese auto industry. Through successful practice and theoretical research on the subject, it is of great possibility, affectivity, and necessity to permeate eastern aesthetics into localization design and foresee aesthetic tendency.
