With continuous growth in revenue and profit for 20 years, a provincial Netcom Corp. faces serious challenge brought by intensifying market competition on traditional voice business. The Company has been proactively transforming the operation model, fully utilized the competitive edge of multi-services operation and strengthened the convergence offering of voice, Internet and information services. The above initiatives enhanced the company non-voice business to maintain the competition edge in telecom industry. The thesis would use the theories of enterprise strategic management and competitive strategy etc., to analyze the real state of the company. The thesis attempts to apply the modern management theories of Michael Porter, including five forces analysis, SWOT analysis and value chain analysis to study China Netcom's products, resources and core competence etc., and to study the content and business model of development and competitive strategy of a province Netcom Corp. in transformation business, and gives concrete measures and suggestions on transformation business.
