Economic Feasibility And Implementation Proposals On Providing Mobile Number Portability Service In China

This paper gives an introduction to mobile number portability services provided in countries and regions all over the world and particularly does analysis to situations in some European countries. The paper brings forward the viewpoint that mobile number portability policy can promote market competition, enhance productivity, save number resources and social cost, protect consumers' interests and push development of 3G. It studies economic feasibility on introducing mobile number portability policy into China, doing quantitative analysis to total benefit and total cost and bringing a conclusion that the total benefit will exceed total cost. The paper also puts forward some advices on operation mode and cost allocation of offering mobile number portability service in China.
