Research Of Supplier's Demand Forecasting And Production Planning Under VMI Environment

Consider the huge advantage of vendor managed inventory, such as exchanging information and enhancing the decision effectivity. This paper was conducted under realistic manufacturing suppliers which were under VMI environment, and probe into the VMI mechanism which was suitable for the enterprises. Also, on the basis of the two important characteristics of VMI, which were unilateral decision-making and information sharing, I discussed the processes of demand forecasting and production planning of enterprises.This paper analysed the principles and mechanisms of VMI in details, and on the basis of this, put forward the VMI mechanism for manufacturing suppliers which was in the person of the information sharing and unilateral decision-making, as this basis, I analysed the operation of the process of VMI the demand forecasting and production plans with in-depth study. After this, the thesis introduced multidimensional data model for information management, and the on-line data analysis for effective use of information, so as to realize the advantages of information sharing. On this basis, this thesis advanced the forecasting mechanism and model for product suppliers, and example of algorithm analysis. In order to show the advantages of VMI mechanism, on the basis of demand forecasting, this thesis brought forward rolling production planning model of supplier with unilateral decision-making and resource constraints, through the analysis of the characteristics of information passed on the production plans and unilateral decision-making process, then carried out algorithm analysis with example.In addition, the thesis also discussed the adjustment of the production plan strategy, combining features and the advantage during the operation of the VMI, and built a framework for the adjustment mode, and gave some attention to the problems which should be suggested.The study result shows that: the impact of VMI mechanism did not only on inventory management of enterprises, particularly for manufacturing enterprises, the main advantage of VMI was also manifested in the course of production. Because the demand forecasting and production plan process were the basis of corporate unilateral decision-making of replenishment and shipping. This result of study showed the course of operation for product suppliers with VMI, as well as the manners and features of the demand forecasting and production planning processes.
