A Study Of Industrial Economy In The New Kingdom Of Ancient Egypt

Ancient Egyptian civilization achieved a great development in period of the New Kingdom. During this period, the Egyptian society was stabilized, the economy was prosperous, and the national power was formidable. Therefore many Egyptologists tried to find the reason for development of ancient Egyptian civilization. With their analyses became deeper and deeper, most of Egyptologists paid their attentions to the industrial economy of Egypt because the development of any society was based on its industrial economy.This thesis have tried to study the industrial economy and divided it into three parts: the agriculture, the mining and the craft.First, this thesis has discussed the basic factors, which affected industrial economy so much. There are two significant factors, the first is the Egyptian environment and the second is the change of Egyptian thought during the New Kingdom. The special environment of Egypt made an advantageous condition for the development of industrial economy. And Egyptians' optimistic attitude also took a splendid idealistic advantage for the development of industrial economy.Second, this thesis has divided three parts for studying the condition of industrial economy. During the New Kingdom, agriculture achieved great development. For example, Egyptians yield more farm produce than ever before, which depended on the improvement of farmer's efficiency and enough labour force. Furthermore the country administered the agriculture effectively also good for the development of Egyptian agriculture. The mining also made a progress during the New kingdom because Egyptian territory was enlarged broadly so that workers could have more mines to exploit in foreign countries. During that period, the Egyptian government also organized and administrated the exploitation well, which took a good advantage to the mining. The craft also achieve great development during this time. The ability to process the farmer produce and mineral was improved so much, and many crafters who have special technological ability was flourishing in Egyptian society. The government administered the craft in the form of offering the coarse material and distributes the ration during the New Kingdom, which specialized the craft in many aspects.In the end, this thesis made the conclusion that the three mainly parts of industrial economy, the agriculture, the mining and the craft, combined into a systemic and harmonious entity which made the industrial economy became prosperous during the New Kingdom.
