Research On Trade Problems Of Sino-Japan Agricultural Product

With the close location and similar consumption preference, the agricultural product between China and Japan has gained great leap during the last decade. Japan has become the most important trade partner to China for 11 successive years. China is the second big partner of agricultural trade to Japan——following USA. Japan imports nearly 30 to 40 percent of its agricultural product from its neighbor——China. In 2001, its agricultural product imported from China surpassed that from USA for the first time, which makes China the number one agricultural import resource to Japan. The amount of agricultural trade between Japan and China has exceeded 160 billion＄US in 2005.However, Japan limits the input of Chinese agricultural product with the limitation higher than those International Limitations such as WTO《Agricultural Agreement》,《Technical Barrier of Trade》,《Agreement on Plant and Animal Inspection Measure》etc. As a country with scarce agricultural resources which can only satisfy itself 30% of its agricultural need, these limitations on agricultural product give a big strike on Japanese depressed economy. In the mean time, seriously damages the interest of Chinese agricultural producer,sale agent and Japanese agricultural product consumer——incurred and incurring great loss to two countries.This dissertation sheds light on the mutual benefit of Sino - Japan agricultural trade. It analyzes the necessity, feasibility of agricultural trade between China and Japan and the damage of setting trade barriers on agricultural trade by applying comparative advantage theory. In the mean time to a deeper degree, consulted the political and economical reason for the issues and find out the useful approaches to these issues. The measure Chinese government,enterprise,farmer should take as reaction when China has been the formal member of WTO.Currently, world economy inclines to integrate together and the trade dependence on each other between countries is deepening.
