The Study On R&D Team Management In Foreign-Owned High & New Tech Company A

In China, Reform and Open policy has been carried out for almost 30 years. Besides setting mass production lines here, many Multi National Corporates (MNC) have transferred their Research & Development (R&D) function to China as well. Inside of booming High & New Technology companies in different sectors, R&D departments are taking more and more essential roles. Internal team management level is an important factor to determine one company's position in the market with extensive competition.This thesis, after providing background of study topic, latest domestic and foreign study status, starts from basic team concept, team category and team management, then outlines characteristics of R&D team, knowledge workers and foreign-owned High & New Technology companies, concludes three targets of R&D team management in such firms, which are accomplishing tasks, establishing and maintaining teams, developing individuals.Then this thesis describes current status of R&D team management in foreign-owned High & New Tech company A. An anonymous survey has been conducted. Based on analysis of the result, successful and those need improvement points have been listed for its R&D team management, as well as a few other findings related to team management. Finally, extended from case study of company A, this thesis summarizes how to build a highly efficient R&D team in foreign-owned High & New Technology companies, which are select and use suitable team members, generate positive team spirit, define not-easy-to-reach team targets, use various motivation methods, communicate in multi channels and implement appropriate performance review. Hope these conclusions can be useful for corporates in similar situations.
