Rearch On The Influnce Factors And Potentiality Of Shanghai Service Industry

At present, China has entered a stage of building a Moderately Prosperous Society in All Respects. At the beginning of this century, the coastal regions have been coming in the post-industrialization. The urban economic structure in our country needs transformation, and it gradually tilts to the service sector. The service industry becomes to the main motivity of the economic growth.According to international experiences, a metropolis is the cradle and hub of the services industry. As a main center, it could develop more rapidly; expand the function, and adjust the internal structure to the senior industry chain. At the same time, in the context of the division expansion of international labor, the service industry has already become the important economic support of the metropolises.As the central city of the Yangtze River Delta, Shanghai and the other two central cities-Beijing and Guangzhou that locate the Pearl River Delta and Jingjintang Region– have the most rapid economic growth. These three cities could largely reflect the trend of the service industry in China. Taking the service industry in Shanghai as an object, the experiences and conclusions will value much more than others.At present, Shanghai is in the phase of manufacturing technology upgrade and structural adjustment. Service industry and manufacturing bring more close relationship. The development of the service industry determines the international competitiveness and the sustainable development. Now, the service industry faced with a predicament and many challenges. How to develop it more efficiently and gain the potentiality have become a problem, and the problem needs desiderating.This paper made a review of the basic theories about the development of service industries. These theories mentioned in it are the theories of economic development period,the theories of industry layout and the theories of industry structure. It researched on the status quo, and analyzed the key industries in the development of the service industry in Shanghai. Chapter IV is the focus chapter. Firstly, this paper took an empirical analysis on the potentialities of the three industries in Shanghai, gained a clear perspective for the development of the service industry. Then it made a qualitative analysis on the potentiality of the service industry from the promotion of the city functions'constructions. Finally, this paper built an econometric model and analyzed the influential factors that affecting the development of the service industry. Last of all, it brought forward the measures and solution that could exert the potentiality of the service industry in Shanghai.The results showed that the potentiality of the service industry in Shanghai displayed an upward trend. From both the absolute point and the relative one, the actual level should be lower than its potential value. There was more potential space for the development of the service industry.Shanghai will be built into an economic, financial, trade and shipping center. Therefore, developed and perfect modem service industries are the basis for Shanghai. And it also brings greater opportunities for the service industry. Hope this study could helpful for the further research.
