China has already been the world's second largest auto consumer and the third largest automobile producer. With the total number of cars in China's rapid growth, the demand for automotive services is increasing, but less attention was paid on the significant proportion of the entire chain in automobile industry, and funding and policy support are not enough, leaving the auto service industry lagging behind automobile manufacturing industry. But the rapid development of auto service industry has been the trend of the era. This thesis is devoted to study the advantages and disadvantages of China's automotive service industry and automotive service industry's role in promoting auto industrial competitiveness.This thesis defines auto services in four aspects as auto sales financing, car rental, automotive post-sale service and automotive extension service, applies the comparative advantage theory and Porter Diamond Model to conduct qualitative analysis on the advantages and disadvantages of China's automotive service industry.The study takes the auto financial service as an example, verified the relativity to the entire auto industry with regression analysis. Drawn from the analysis, the internal and external factors that influence the automotive financial services are also affecting the competitiveness of China's auto industry, there exists correlation between them. The guiding role of the country's financial policy on the auto industry towards the financial services sector also reach to the entire auto industry.This thesis focuses on the establishment of professional automobile financing companies, the perfection of credit system, professional staff training on automobile financing, the expansion of the financing scale on automobile financing companies, and how such factors impact the entire auto industry. It holds that China's automobile industry can promote the rapid development of China's automotive service industry, China's development of auto services model should get closer to mature foreign models, rapid development of automotive services help to increase the competitiveness of China's automobile industry.At the end, I gave some suggestions on increasing the competitiveness of both auto service and auto industry. Firstly, China should learn form foreign countries' mature models in order to accelerate the pace of development of China's automotive service industry. Secondly, the government should adopt policies and regulations to create a good competitive environment for car service enterprises. Thirdly, to set up self-regulatory organizations of auto service as soon as possible. Finally, to accelerate personnel training and introducing to promote automotive service management innovations.
