Great importance is attached to the value of talents in the enterprises of various countries and therefore the career development of employees becomes a common concern. When human resources management is discussed from the perspective of enterprise strategy, the management of employees'career becomes an important subject in both theoretical and practical fields. Human resources management constitutes an indispensable link in human resources in which the enterprise and its employees hold the same development aim and attain a win-win by mutual efforts. Despite the vigorous development of China Petroleum in the outside of China, the problems in the development of overseas employees impede the sustainable and efficient development. The thesis furthers the research into the career management of this particular group based on the situation. At first, the related theories of career management and of the management of overseas employees are summarized and the deficiencies in the theories are put forward as well as the career stages of overseas employees are divided. After CNODC's present situation is analyzed and the features of overseas work and international human resources management are concluded, the problems and the deficiencies in the management of employees'career. Then, through the summary of the practical activities of career management in various countries and the analysis of successful cases, the several aspects from which career management is approached is concluded on the basis of successful cases. Eventually, based on the summary and analysis, how to set up career management system by CNODC, the aspects in the stages of the practical process, the important problems and their proposed countermeasures which deserve the attention in the career management are all suggested.
