At the report on government work at the 2nd session of the 10th NPC congress, premier Wen Jiabao put forward the developmental strategy—"Strengthening the Rise of the Middle Area of China". The author in this paper thinks that the middle area of China, in a real sense, mainly includes six provinces of Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangsu, Henan, Hubei and Hunan. The agriculture in the middle area plays a significant role in the national agriculture in the aspect of planting area, the quantity of agricultural products, and the contribution to Chinese agricultural GDP and agricultural tax and others. Compared with national average, agriculture also is very important to the economy of the middle area after analyzing the percentage of agricultural total produce to industrial product, agricultural added value in GDP, farming laborers in the social laborers, and so on. If agriculture is simply divided into grain industry and non-grain industry, grain industry will be in the leading role. Under the social circumstance that grain is a sort of strategic resource, to take research on the grain competition in the six provinces in the middle will be extremely crucial to ensure the grain security of the nation, to promote the economic development and the social stability in the middle area, and to realize the strategy of the rise of the middle area.The paper is to analyze the grain competition in the six provinces in the middle area through competitive theory and evaluation method of competition. And After analyzing the four selected grains: rice, wheat, corn, soybean in the six provinces in the middle area in China, the author discusses the restrictive factors that affect grain competition of the six provinces in the middle area. They are the problem of scale, scattered farm-household running, benefit mechanism, circulation system, value added capability, quality of the farmers etc. What is more, the paper brings forward several ways to improve the grain competition of the six provinces in the middle area. They mainly include enlarging running scale, implementing agriculture standardization, strengthening to systematize farmers, developing brand agriculture, innovating technology and science, improving farmers' quality and the like. At last, the paper advances several suggestions on policy in the aspect of finance, insurance, the transit of land and the currency of agricultural products.
