The Research And Application Of Schedule Control On Outsourcing Project Based On CMM Software Process Improvement

Software outsourcing becomes an opportunity of development for China's IT industry. China, in the ensuing years, will continually display itself as the hot spot for outsourcing deals. The importance of a well-defined process for outsourcing is often brought up. However, concrete implemental advice, tools and processes are harder to come by.In the outsourcing software project, the project progress influences the cost and business of both client and vendor, the progress also possibly affects the product quality. This article is the research and application of schedule control in outsourcing software field, based on CMM software process improvement.Before the carrying out of the project, the vendor side should analyze the planned contents completely, and fully understand the progress, requests, estimation of the workload and resource arrangement of the client side. Obvious bifurcations need to be clarified in time and build up a consensus.Vendor side should implement the project according to the project planned progress, and periodically make the progress report of actual implement in time. Vendor side should analysis the items that will influence the progress, and communicating with client side to put forward solution.Software quality efforts, such as the SEI's Capability Maturity Model (CMM), can reduce the number of defects and thereby improve security. CMM guides us in setting up a good configuration management system. But Chinese software industry start a bit late, there are still many problems remain in the implementation of CMM, particularly in how to apply CMM outward to outsourcing projects process management.The dissertation's research work is based on CMM 2 and CMM 3 KPAs An actual outsourcing software project was given to illustrate the process of implantation and to verify the software process improvement in project schedule control.
