Zhongshan Road is one of the earliest streets in Nanning. There has been quite a large scale of night market on this road. However, in recent years, with the large-scale urban construction, some old traditional blocks were demolished in the transformation and development of the city, and others are also being in the edge of demolition.But in face with the problems like removing the night market on Zhongshan Road or retaining it, the government and non-government manners are still in one kind of contradictory condition. Although there are all kinds of drawbacks with the Zhongshan Road night market, they do not hinder the night market to manifest its own cultural characteristics. It even becomes the best place for outlanders and foreigners to experience the local life.During the process of the urban development and social reform, the reconstruction of urban public space and public life has brought the populace broader and smoother streets, new facilities, relatively "civilized" city appearance as well as contemporary entertainment forms. But are all these at the cost of gradually losing the populace's relatively stable and traditional life style handed down by generations? And how does the populace respond to this phenomenon?In this thesis, the author tries to seek the cultural significance of the night market on Zhongshan Road by describing the night market and the government and non-government views. By the case study of the night market on Zhongshan Road, the author hopes to obtain some valuable experience for the protection of traditional culture.
