Some Study On The Establishment Of Sino-Japan-Korea Free Trade Area

From the 1990s, world economic globalization and regional economic integration have been fast developing. However, meanwhile, the regional economic cooperation among East Asian countries was comparatively left behind. With the fast development of mutual economy and trade relationship among three major Asian countries——China, Japan and Korea, the voices of speeding up the regional mechanism cooperation came out many times. Under this situation, at the Sino-Japan-Korea leaders meeting, which was held in Phnom Penh of Cambodia on November 4th, 2002, China's former frime minister Zhu Rongji put forward the conception of establishing Sino-Japan-Korea Free Trade Area(FTA). The facts have proven that establishing Sino-Japan-Korea FTA keeps pace with the great world trend and is accepted and supported by governments, industries, scholars and most of the people of the three countries, and it certainly will bring great, profound and lasting influences to China, Japan and Korea, and even the regional economy cooperation and development of the whole East Asia. This essay firstly reviews the emergence and development of the conception of Sino-Japan-Korea FTA. And then it briefly introduces the development course of free trade theories and the theories of regional economic integration, which provide the theoretical basis for China, Japan and Korea three countries to pursue trade liberalism and establish Sino-Japan-Korea FTA. After having analysing the necessity and feasibility of establishing Sino-Japan-Korea FTA, this essay narrates in detail all kinds of restrictive factors in the establishment of Sino-Japan-Korea FTA, including the obstacles in politics and economy, the great difficulties in opening industries that are sensitive to each other respectively, the attitude of the US, and the competition for the leading right of the FTA. And then this essay emphatically discusses the selection of cooperation mode and establishment route, and the principles that must be conform to. At last, with regard to the factors that hinder the establishment of Sino-Japan-Korea FTA, this thesis puts forward with creativity all kinds of measures to eliminate obstacles and push forward the development process of FTA. What's more, a piece of conclusion is drew in the end. That is: although the establishment of Sino-Japan-Korea FTA surely will experience a long-term, complicated process that is full of challenges. But as long as China, Japan and Korea three parties take pro-active and effective measures to promote the politics trust in each other, push forward the healthy and steady development of economy and trade relationship between the three countries, properly deal with the contradictions and conflicts that exist in the three countries, perfect the mechanism cooperation on conversations, coordinations and so on between three countries' governments, and as long as three countries make all efferts and stride forward together towards the target of Sino-Japan-Korea FTA, it is believed that the Sino-Japan-Korea FTA that will bring great benefits to China, Japan and Korea three countries and even the whole East Asia is bound to be established as soon as possible.
