Research On Disparity And Convergence In Regional Economic Growth

This paper described and decomposed disparity in regional economic growth in China from economic development and the standards of living of people, researched the factors on the effects disparity in regional economic growth, such as location, division and specialization, input, structure and institution. Then empirical analysis the impact of all factors on the regional economic growth in eastern, central and western, and proved no general trend of convergence in China but performed it in eastern, central and middle-western.On this basis, discussed the formation mechanism of regional disparity, that is regional disparities comes from the mechanism of regional economic growth, the polarization effect of inter-district transfer and self-reinforcing of urban bias policy, and these made by the process and interaction from factors affecting regional disparities. Summed up to achieve coordinated development of regional is to establish the interaction mechanism of regional mutual promotion and complementary, and explore the trails of harmonious economic growth of the western region.The main conclusion for this study is: firstly, to accelerate the adjustment in economic structure and transformation of the mode of economic growth in regional, to promote industrialization and urbanization process in central and western, and form a rational pattern of regional development. Secondly, to advance regional policy changed to a new paradigm of enhance competitive, and stress regional effects of macroeconomic policies. Thirdly, to promote the development of information and integration in western, avoid and overcome the structure no economic in geographic space. Fourthly, to implement strategy of industry nurture agriculture and cities support rural, propped up the viability of rural areas, narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas.The new findings for this study include following aspects: on the basis of empirical research in disparity in regional economic growth and convergence, explored the formation mechanism of disparity in regional economic growth. In order to narrow down the disparity economic development between regions, putted strategies of coordination development of regional and optimizing the economic growth route choice in western.
