A team leader is the direct commander of a working team and the basic supervisor in an enterprise. He is the bridge between the workers and the managers. He impacts the implement of the policy and the realization of the goal of the enterprise. How to motivate team leaders effectively so that they can work with excellent performance is the most urgent problem of every enterprise. While the enterprise must consider the cost, when it determines which motivation methods to be used. If one method belongs to the hygiene area, no matter how much the enterprise pays, there will not be any motivation effect and vice versa. It is very important for the enterprise to make a distinction between motivation factors and hygiene factors.In this research the initial questionnaires of the team leaders'motivation factors and hygiene factors were formed through the interviews with the team leaders of Y Group. The initial questionnaires were put into reliability and validity analysis, and then the final questionnaire was formed. In the final questionnaire there are two parts: the motivation questionnaire and the hygiene questionnaire. In each part there are three branch questionnaires.As the samples the team leaders of Y Group were investigated through the final questionnaire. The data is disposed and the team leaders'performance is analyzed by step multiple regression analysis. The results are as the following:(1) The growth element is part of the motivation factors of the team leaders. If the growth demand is satisfied, the team leaders will work with excellent performance.(2) The existence element is as well as part of the motivation factors of the team leaders. If the existence demand is satisfied, the team leader will work with excellent performance. While the motivation effect of existence is weaker than the motivation effect of growth.(3) The hygiene factor of the team leader is relatedness element. If the relatedness demand is not satisfied, the team leader will work with terrible performance.(4) When the enterprise is considering the motivation methods, it should pay more on the existence demand and the growth demand of the team leaders so that they will work with excellent performance. Meanwhile, the team leaders'relatedness demand should be satisfied so that they will not work with terrible performance.The result of this research shows that to the team leaders the growth and existence demands are the motivation factors and the relatedness demand is the hygiene factor. The effect of the growth demand on the team leaders'performance is higher than the effect of the existence demand. Meanwhile, the team leaders should communicate with both the workers and the managers, so the harmonious relation is very important to them. Although the satisfaction of the relatedness demand can not motivate the team leaders so that they work with excellent performance, it can ensure that the team leaders will not be unsatisfied. While the unsatisfaction of the relatedness demand will make the team leaders unsatisfied so that they work with terrible performance.
