A Research On The Oil Enterprise's International Competitive Capacity Based On Coordination Theory

The study of international competitiveness has long been the focus both the academic and industrial fields concerned. Chinese oil enterprises have faced severe international competition in oil market. This work concentrated on exploring the way to improve the international competitive advantage of Chinese oil enterprises based on coordination theory, which possessed both practical and theoretical significances.Based on theories of international competitiveness and coordination, combined with the characteristic and the competiting background of oil Industry, the system of international competitive of in oil enterprise was analyzed. Using Exxon, Shell, Bp, Chevron, Total, SinopecCorp, and PetrochinaCorp as research object, the released data and reports during 1999-2005 years were collected as samples. Employing a combined method with Data Envelopment Analysis and coordination theory, the correlative degrees of the system and sub-systems in international competitiveness were estimated.It was found that the resources potential ability, scale ability, profiting ability, management ability, sale ability, R&D ability, and sustainable development ability constituted a frame system of the oil enterprise's international competitiveness. The correlative degrees of these sub-systems contributed to the evaluation the correlation function of oil enterprise's international competitiveness. According to the particular function of each sub-system, the sub-systems could be assigned to different layers: the scale and profiting ability were in the explicit basic layer, the management ability and resources potential were in the implicit basic layer, sale ability and R&D ability were operation leading functions, and sustainable development was the target leading function.It was concluded that attention should paid to these correlations of the sub-systems in order to improve the international competitiveness of Chinese oil enterprises. The research results of this work were hoped to provide some reference for this industry.
