Taking Fuliang village for example and basing on Mr Feixiaotong's theory of birth system, it is held out in this dissertation that marriage and birth is not only to meet people's physiological need, but to keep the race's continuity as its final aim. With the dialectical method of Marxism philosophy and the theory of social gender, the paper is going to analyse the symbolic significance, exam the gender value idea and discover the gender metaphor actually hinted from"Light"and"Child"in the ceremony of marriage and birth. But the symbolic fact of praying for children in the ceremony represented people's anxiety of getting a child ,especially a boy rather than a girl who could keep the family's continuity. The unequal value judgment about two sexes negatively influenced their statuses, roles and sources assignment. Through the repeated ceremony, this prejudice may further strengthen people's gender choice ,influence their marital harmony and in terms of development opportunity ,create unequality between the two sexes.
