Reliability and maintenance cost are two key factors for equipment management, and maintenance cost is based on sustaining optimization of maintenance resources. Following topics of resources optimization have been addressed based on introducing the basic principle of reliability and typical system of chemical industry. Time resources optimization: Firstly based on reliability analysis, equipment failure statistics has been used to determine the optimal maintenance interval, secondly maintenance interval is deduced based on the maximum availability of equipment system. Thirdly it is inferred from the lowest general maintenance cost. Finally Fuzzy General Appraisal Method is used to balance the three maintenance interval time data from the above,and the final optimal maintenance interval has been got, which not only guarantees reliability but also reaches the optimal maintenance time.Spare parts optimization: Firstly following has been expatiated in this chapter: Theory ,technology and method of equipment state diagnoses, material requirements planning(MRP) , how to set up bill of material for equipment. Secondly ABC classification of equipment and spare parts based on importance analyses, and analyzing 9 models of spare parts storage control. Finally Blower of Thermal Oxidizer of S company has been set as an example: Equipment spare parts BOM being set up based on MRP, spare parts planning and strategy being ready after analyzing of BOM. Least Squares Method has been used to get the failure curve of blower and estimate the future equipment failure point based on historical vibration test result. Spare parts requirements plan will be implemented based on the possible failure point and the principle of MRP. Thus reasonable spare parts storage has been reached with losing reliability.Maintenance human resources optimization: Objective function being set up based the consideration of different speciality for maintenance manpower, Restrictive relation being set up based on all important factors that will limit the full use of maintenance manpower, the objective is to minimum manpower cost. Linear programming model is set up based on above. Example has been given to guide model application.
