The study is aiming at building up an analyzing paradigm, finding out each essential factor affects the Urban tourism competitiveness. From contrasting analysis of each essential factor in Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou and Nanjing to discover the questions existed in Chengdu Tourism industry and propose solutions and countermeasures. The study mainly involves the theory of competitiveness, regional economics, industrial economics and tourism principles,etc. Combining positive study, quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis, this paper systematically studies urban tourism industry competitiveness. The thesis is divided into five chapters.The fist part is introduction, the paper introduces the backdrop and the reasons for selection subject and provides a brief survey of the related studies at home and abroad. Tourism industry is a newly burgeoning industry in China. with the swift increase on tourism investment, regional competition was getting more and more intense. The development of urban tourism are confronted with a great deal of current pressure. The issue of competitiveness analysis of urban tourism industry came to my mind under the above backdrop.The second part deals with the theoretical basis of the study. it introduces four kinds of theories most related to this article and defies the central conceptions. The author believes that the research of urban tourism competitiveness is carries on to urban tourism industry competitiveness.The third part is to analyze the tourism competitiveness systematically. Based on using"diamond"modle of E.point and"A Conceptual Model of Tourism Destination Competitiveness"of Ritchie&Crouch, the author sets up"a modle of urban tourism competitiveness". Then the author analyzes four affecting factors of urban tourism competitiveness. including environmental factors, resources factors, support factors and core factors. Part four is a case study. the article analyzes the tourism competitiveness of four cities of China. Through comparison between the competitive powers in city tourism of Ghengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Nanjing. The paper finds some practical problems in developing chengdu urban tourism.Based on above analysis, The author give some suggestions on enhancing chengdu urban tourism competitiveness. From the development and the propaganda of traveling products, the utilization of talented persons and the capitals, the standard behaviors of enterprises and the government as well as the creation of legal system to promote the Chengdu urban tourism competitiveness.
