Wage structure shift is aroused by the interaction between labor supply and demand. It's not only attributed to the inter-effect of supply and demand in the same group, but also among the different groups. In the sight of empirical research, direct measurements of labor supply and demand, as well as the shifts in supply and demand are quite complicated, thus people are making great efforts to search a more simplified empirical approach. It is a widely acknowledged research on wage structure shift that using labor relative supply and demand shifts to demonstrate the shifts of supply and demand between different groups and then analyzes the effects of changes in labor market structure on wage structure movements. Labor relative supply and demand model, which using relative supply and demand curve shifts to analyze the relations between supply and demand shifts and changes in wage structure, is a more simplified labor supply and demand framework in terms of empirical analysis. In China, such research is just on the underway stage. It's not only in the absence of Chinese literature, but also lacks more in the empirical studies. This paper does a basic literature carding job, and more systemically summarizes the existing related literature. Finally, in terms of the Chinese realities, we propose some suggestive ideas for deepening related studies mainly including four aspects: the impacts of institutional factors on wage structure changes, the two assumptions in the construction of relative supply index, the evaluation of relative demand shift and the problem of appropriate grouping.
