In the trade of rolled steel distribution, the number of the rolled steel machining & distributing centers in middle or large scale has exceeded more than 300. More and more rolled iron and steel works have chosen the rolled steel close process & delivery as one of their new innovational trades. So, the marketing status of the machining & distributing center begin to emerge. In the late 1990's, the decision-makers of the Pan Steel Group (PG) made a decision to develop the rolled steel close process & delivery. At the beginning of 2001, Chongqing Rolled Steel Cutting & Distributing Center (CRSCDC) of the PG was set up. Through years of operation, the turnover of the CRSCDC had been rising slowly. In contrast, Shanghai Bao Steel Group (BG), the leading company in the steel trade, established its distribution networks rapidly and made considerable profits. According to an investigation in the early 2005, the numbers of the BG machining & distributing center had reached 19 and these centers gradually turned into one of the new profit source. As one of the workers implementing the operations of the PG rolled-steel close process & delivery trade, the tremendous gap and competitive pressure in this trade were more and more distinct to the author than the others. In this paper, acceding to the examination on the business experience of the CRSCDC, the problems existing in the center at present were analyzed based on the theory of the Logistics Distribution (LD) and Supply Chain Management (SCM). Finally, the directions in future were put forward.The main work in this paper was as follows:Firstly, according to the theory of the LD and SCM, the changes in the sale models, brought by the domino effect of transfer & convergences, were analyzed. The result revealed the importance of JIT (Just in Time) and VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) during the rolled steel close process & delivery. Based on this, it highlighted the supporting function of rolled steel machining & distributing center for the rolled steel company'strategies.Secondly, the practical problems and the marketing models in the CRSCDC were disgussed, according to the theory of Customs Relationship Management (CRM) and Marketing. It concluded that lack of innovation on the tradition marketing concept is one of the most important problems that restricted the development of the distributing trade.
