The Research On Development Of Community Commerce In The Old City In Beijing

With the development of the economics and acceleration of the urbanization in China since the 21th century, the government,commercial firms and residents pay close attention to the development of community commerce as the basic part in commercial economics system. when the theorist have been doing research on community commerce problems recently, they focus on the satellite towns in metropolis, in the background of the housing-suburbanize. But there are a lot of problems about community commerce in the old city actually, which have complicated character of community,space and function. For this reason, how to develop the community commerce in the old city, have become the problem needed to research and settle in theory and practice.This paper focus on the old city in Beijing. Firstly, it summarizes the theory and successful way of community commerce development abroad, relates the condition of commerce development in Beijing in the period of the 11th five-year plan and forecast the future tend in the next five years. Secondly, the paper brings up some problems about community commerce in the old city, through investigating different kinds of communities on the spot in Xuanwu district and communicating with relative government department. Finally, the paper gives some practical suggestion about how to develop community commerce in the old city, through analyzing the effect of Beijing City Planning for 2004-2020 and considering the development background of the old city.The innovation of this paper is that it brings up some practical suggestion for the development of community commerce in the old city, such as choosing the right way to develop community commerce according to the character of the community, opening up the formal open-air market and so on. Thereby, it establish the firm theoretical and practical foundation for improving the community commerce of the old city.
