In the recent years, online auction developed rapidly as a new field in Electronic Commerce (EC), with the fast growth of EC and Internet. As a new pattern in EC field, online auction has the advantage of high speed, low cost and fast spreading, which is the Internet's advantage. Hense, the auction becomes more and more simple and widely used. However, how to increase the bargin price of staff on-sale is a big problem for auctioneers.The birth and development of Agent is resulted by the growth of AI and network technology. Agent is autonomous, reactive and interactive and is good at resolving questions. Meanwhile, it can accomplish both simple and complex tasks. Hense, Agent is suitable to be used in the EC environment which is rich of information and programs. So, the birth and development of Agent brings hope to resolving online auction, or widely, EC problems. The paper is aimed at simulating online auction in order to optimize the online aution mechanism using the results of the simulation.The paper researches into the foundation of online auction and Agent technology at first. And then, proposes the process of agent-based online auction according to the characteristic of Agent and customer behavior model. After that, the paper gives the architecture of online auction simulation system, the design of auction protocol and the design of bidding agent and president agent.Finally, the paper realizes the online auction simulation system using JADE, which is an Agent platform based on FIPA criterion. Some auction mechanism is simulated and the best auction mechanism is chosen by the result of the simulation.
