As China's entry to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Chinese construction market has become a part of the international market, and the Chinese construction industry should improve its competitiveness and get competitive advantages to compete with other competitors in the international market. To give some advice and theoretical supporting for this, the research analyzes the factors that affect the competitiveness of construction industry of our country.As an industry different from common manufacture and typical service industry, construction has some larruping characters. Taking all these into accountant, the research apply the Construction Industry Competitiveness Hexagon, which stems from the Porter's Diamond and more suitable for construction, to do the analysis. There are six dimensions, including factor conditions, human resources, demand conditions, firm strategy and management, industry characteristics, and government and other exogenous dimensions, including chance, culture and international influence. And then the research sets a series of construction industry competitiveness indicators through questionnaire to feed the hexagon, and penetrates into each indicator. And the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is been introduced to fix on the weight for each indicator.Additionally, the research tries to carry out the horizontal comparison among countries with a simple competitiveness evaluation method and the statistics data got from Engineering News-Record. Besides, it also touches upon subjects related with the construction industry international competitiveness of China.In the finality, the problems requiring further studies are discussed.
