The Empirical Study On Technology Spillover Effects From FDI In Guangdong's Industry

In recent years, many scholars have studied abundently on FDI spillovers in host countries. The study indicated that FDI was a synthesis which included some factors, for example capital, technology, knowledge, skill of management, effectual resource of organization and so on. It can promote enterprises in host countries to elevate their level of technologies, organization efficiency and full-factor productivity, and to change economy-increasing patterns.The creative parts in this thesis can be summarized as followings. Theoretically, there are three main points which can be summed up here. Firstly, the concepts of FDI technology spillovers and technology spillover effects are clarified, and the basic approaches of technology spillovers and the related factors which influenced technology spillover effects are also defined. Secondly, some domestic and overseas literatures about technology spillover effects from FDI, their conclusions and methods are summarized. Thirdly, on the basis of the survey of FDI in Guangdong province, its development stages and characters are analysed.Empirically, based on the metric model that constructed from the existing studies, the thesis analyzed the technology spillover effects from FDI in Guangdong's industry. The study indicates that technology spillover effects from FDI in industry are very evident, but technology spillover effects from FDI in intra-industry and inter-industry are evidently difference because of different industrial characters. According to the above empirical study, the thesis analyses the causes of FDI technology spillovers in industry of Guangdong, and the study indicates that the competition between foreign and domestic enterprises is one of the important causes.Finally, on the basis of the above empirical study, some relative policy suggestions are put forward in this thesis.
