Study On The Characteristics And Mechanisms Of The Evolution Of Urban System Structure In Fujian Province

As a complex system, urban system's evolution is influenced by many factors, such as natural environment, economic environment as well as social environment. Therefore, urban system in one area has its own characteristics. After a phase of high-speed economic development, the structure of urban system in Fujian province has been changing greatly. Under such circumstance, this thesis studies the characteristics of urban system's evolution of Fujian province by qualitative and quantitative method, and by GIS technique. The thesis also analyzes the reasons which lead to this evolution, hoping to abundance urban system research .At first, The thesis uses Primate City Index and Parameter to figure out city's scale distribution in Fujian province. The results show that the city's scale distribution accords to rank-size rule. But the Primate City Index increased slightly. Then the thesis analyzes the function characteristics of urban system in Fujian province and concludes that it develops very well. At last, the thesis uses three kinds of fractal dimensions to characterize spatial structure of urban system in Fujian which were respectively named as aggregation dimension, grid dimension and spatial correlation dimension. The auther describes the spatial trace of the urban gravity center of different scales of population from 1990 to 2003 by gravity model. The results show that the urban center of gravity shift and shift direction of different scales of population are different. Finally, the thesis analyzes natural, economic and social reasons which leading to this evolution.
