The industrial agglomeration is the main form of industry development at present and the important manner in strengthening the industry competitiveness. The sugar industry plays an important role in increasing the incomes of farmers in Guangxi and promoting economic development of Guangxi. It has gained an absolute advantage in China for many years, but is still inferior to some other countries which produce more sugar than Guangxi. So what is the source of competitive advantage at home, and how to facing the challenges from other countries are the two problems we should study. This article will try to figure out the two questions from the angle of industrial agglomeration, and with the new theory of industrial agglomeration used will also make some suggestions on how to enhancing the competitiveness of sugar industry.Firstly this article sums up the basic conditions of sugar industry in Guangxi, and then analyzes the existence of agglomeration, the style and the differences compared with other agglomeration styles. Secondly by using the theory that industrial agglomeration strengthens the competitiveness, the article demonstrates the dominant status of Guangxi' s sugar industry in China. On the other hand, according to Porter' s diamond theory, the article generalizes the gap between Guangxi' s sugar industry and other countries' . On the basis of conclusions in the former, the article introduces Best' s model and finds new ways on how to enhancing the industry competitiveness from a dynamic angle.
