Development Strategies Of Wood Floor Industry In China

China's wood floor industry has developed to a certain degree after more than twenty years' exploration. Accompanying its burgeoning are some problems that should not be neglected.This paper analyzes the developmental conditions for the wood floor industry in China. The study on the resources of wood floor industry leads us to a finding that a severe crisis of resource shortage exists in China, hindering the development of the industry.The sales volume of wood floor, particularly in recent years, is skyrocketing in our country with an annual growth of 20%. Considering the rapid increase of wood floor demands, this paper tries to study the growing demands using the income elasticity analysis and draws a conclusion that the income elasticity of wood floor in China in over 1, meaning that the industry is elastic.China's entry to the WTO and the changes of situations at home and abroad bring about much influence on China's wood floor industry. This paper, from the aspect of operational environment, investigates the strength, weakness, opportunities and threats that the industry is facing using the SWOT method. Then the paper analyzes the environment that the industry faces from different points of view, and comes to the conclusion that both opportunities and challenges exist in China's wood floor industry.Finally, a matrix model is proposed to ensure the healthy development according to the current operational environment, and short-term, mid-term and long-term strategies for the wood floor industry are put forward based on this model.
