The Problems And Countermeasures Of Development Of Wuhan Urban Agriculture Are Studied

Confirmed by my instructor, the thesis selected is based on my involvement and its related issue approval from the Bureau of Hubei Education as one of important projects of Hubei social and science research, reading as Research on Hubei urban agriculture industrialization under Issue No. 2005z120. Wuhan city is a core economic region in the Yangtze River, as well as one of the biggest cities. Wuhan city economic development will play a leading role in the lower and middle area of Yangtze River. Wuhan city holds three and seven million farmers who accounts for 39.9 percent of the whole population, while its suburb landing area is nearly 7606 square kilometers accounting for 89.5% of the total area. It has no doubt that urban agriculture development will take an important function in Wuhan economic developmentUrban agriculture in English means originally the farming within the circle of the urban. It actually has become a special region economy resulting from the development of the urban at certain stage of the whole society with its history more than 100 years. As early as in 1898, Mr. Horward suggested his idea about gardening city, which focused on building up newly beautiful urban environment with a perfect link between urban area and rural area, putting the urban energetic strengths into the good natural rural environment including well-being of the whole society. It is the rudiment for the theory of urban agriculture. Developing urban agriculture not only satisfy the needs and living requirements of modern citizens but also, more important, posses the practical direction for our agricultural modernization, for our sustaining developing strategy, for our new economic knowledge as well as for our new revolution in agriculture research.With urban economic development reaching a higher level and the further mixture between urban and rural area, agriculture and non-agriculture, urban agriculture, adapting for the need of integration construction for urban and rural area, has come to become a farming and operation system with a comparatively high productivity among the whole urban region. It provides with service and has a close relation with urban areas and integrated agriculture production into ecology protection, taking biotechnology, engineering technology and information technology into consideration.
