Study On The Channels And Strategies To Improve Chinese Import Status Of Iron Ore

Accompanying with the rapid development of iron and steel industry, and the poor condition of iron ore in China, the contradiction of supply and demand of iron ore (as the main raw material of iron and steel industry) is prominent day by day. As the supply of iron ore cannot meet the needs in quality and quantity, the amount of the import iron ore increases in large scale by years, which alleviated the scarce demand and supply contradiction of the iron ore in our country to a great extent and accelerates our economy. But the rising import cost, the lower using efficiency, the weak strength in the international iron ore trade and the relevant poor transport system, all of these need us to review our strategy in a right angle. So it is so important to research and improve the way and the strategy of our imports of the iron ore resources.On the basis of the analysis of resources and transportation status of iron ore in the global and China, we analyze the internal and external environment for China's iron and steel industry by five power models and SWOT, it confirms that its necessary and important for China's iron and steel industry using imported iron ore. And then we analyze the characteristics and the situation of iron ore supply and demand of resources , and take the company—Chongqing steel and iron limited liability company which author works for as a case, bring forward the strategic direction and strategy, as well as relevant implementation measures on imports of iron ore. Finally, in conjunction with previous comprehensive analysis, we get the ways and strategies on how to improve imports of iron ore in our country.This article points out that our country should adopt some way, such as the buyer alliance and import substitution, and so on. We can establish the iron ore supply base in overseas. We should full use the iron ore resources and the world iron ore trade market. We also should improve our transport system, and establish the national resources crisis management mechanism. And then we can change the condition in importing iron ore, and enhances the international competitive ability. We hope that through this we can improve the imports of iron ore resources in our country and improvement practically.
